Hotel Brummell; Rooftop Hotel Barcelona in the City's Rawest District
Hotel Brummell is located in Poble Sec, next to Montjuïc, and you can feel it as you walk into the area. Few tourists, lots of locals, streets that haven’t yet been discovered by major guides. Raw edges, great neighbors. The hotel itself is the opposite of its surroundings: personal, homely, designed without being cold. We had breakfast on the back patio. Peaceful, green, just the kind of morning you want. On the roof, an intimate plunge pool. No beach club, no DJ, just water and silence after a warm city day. A block away is Restaurant Margarit, one of my favorite spots in the city. Locals Only! Hotel Brummell is the most affordable option on this list.
Yurbban Passage; Rooftop Hotel in the Heart of El Born
Yurbban Passage gets its name from the passage it overlooks. A beautiful 19th-century building right in El Born, among the tapas bars and boutiques that make this neighborhood what it is. The hotel is modern with sleek design, yet the atmosphere remains intimate. On the roof, there's a sleek pool with views over the rooftops of Barcelona — not very big, but just right for a morning dip or an end-of-day moment. There’s also a spa. For those who want to be central without sacrificing atmosphere.
The Hoxton Barcelona; Rooftop Pool, Free Bikes, and the Beach Around the Corner
The Hoxton is in Poblenou. More creative, quieter, closer to the beach than the historic center. The interior is inviting, the lobby, and bar the kind of place you stay longer than planned. On the roof: pool, bar, and views. More lively than Brummell, more international in vibe. We grabbed the free bikes and toured the whole district. In Poblenou, you barely see a tourist early in the morning. The beach is a ten-minute ride away. There's also a great restaurant in the hotel. Or head to Masa Vins, a delightful wine bar a short walk away.
Hotel 1898; Classic Hotel on La Rambla with Indoor Pool and Large Rooftop Terrace
Normally, I’d say avoid La Rambla. But with Hotel 1898, I'll make an exception. You don’t feel the hustle below when you’re on top. A large rooftop terrace, wide views over the city, and a wonderful pool. The hotel is more classic in style than the other four, somewhat American. This hotel is perfect for those who want everything within walking distance and don’t want to choose between a hotel with a pool or a perfect location. It's on the higher end price-wise in this list.
Casa Bonay; No Pool, but the Best Rooftop Bar in Eixample
Casa Bonay has no pool, but you won’t miss it. The rooftop bar is small, green, filled with wooden tables and natural wine, buzzing with a mix of locals and hotel guests who all know exactly why they're there. The hotel is housed in a 19th-century building in Eixample, has everything you need, including a rooftop restaurant, Café Chiringuito TosTao, cocktail bar Libertine, and restaurant Bodega Bonay. For those who find atmosphere more important than a pool.
